Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30pm, could be different depending on the circumstances. Position is also on call 24/7 for any issues related to the units.


Summary

The director oversees the entire process for Pretrial/Bail/Diagnostic Services Unit’s as they pertain to the courts and its operation. Under pretrial/bail this includes the areas of bail, electronic monitoring, court hearings (bail habeas and Act 150). The specialty courts of Second Chance Court and Street Restoration of Competency Program. The director is responsible for the total administration of these units in terms of budget and the overall personnel process. The director is also the DUI Coordinator for Delaware County and is responsible for all aspects of the DUI Program i.e. making sure that all appropriate people and programs are certified and that they are in compliance with state regulations.


Essential Duties

Under the general supervision of the President Judge the director is responsible for maintaining files and records in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Ensuring proper coverage for the Court of Common Pleas and the Magisterial District Judges Courts in terms of bail and hearing coverages.

Oversee and maintain a 24/7 coverage operation, the director is on call 24/7 for all areas.

Handles all Act 150 hearings and bail habeas hearings in the absence of the Assistant Director.

The financial budgeting and control of the entire operation in addition to planning and organizing a schedule of personnel on a monthly basis in order to ensure proper court coverage.

Maintains communications to all entities of the criminal justice system in the areas of evaluating and decision-making processes associated with the unit.

Monitors, manages and coordinates the two specialty courts.

Responsible for preparing, planning, and organizing of contracts with outside professionals who perform evaluations for the courts.

DUI Coordinator for Delaware County responsible for making sure the DUI Program is state compliant in the area of the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, that all instructors are properly trained and certified.

Keeping the courts aware of any changes the DUI laws or procedures in the state.

Responsible for the overall units operations including the quality and timeliness of all evaluations performed.

Perform other job-related duties.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree at minimum in Social Science or related field.

At minimum 2-3 years experience in the Criminal Justice System.

Physical Requirements: Normal Good Health

Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees. Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within three months of starting employment.
