This position reports directly to the Investigators, Lead Investigators, and Director of Internal Affairs within George W. Hill Correctional Facility. The Intelligence Analyst serves as a member of the Internal Affairs Department and is responsible for reviewing computer- based systems, gathering information relevant to cases, and reviewing materials associated with ongoing investigations within the correctional facility.
Conducts research relevant to current trends within threats to correctional agencies and vulnerabilities for the introduction of contraband.
Maintains up-to-date awareness of illicit substances and the formulations of those substances.
Maintains accurate case files, notes, and logs relevant to investigations.
Aware of regulations related to chain of custody and the integrity of evidence preservation.
Understands and frequently reviews the video visit database, incarcerated person mail, and other areas where intelligence may be gained.
Familiar with security threat groups.
Conducts interviews of alleged victims, witnesses, and suspects as it pertains to internal investigations and/or official inquiries, as directed by the investigators.
Prepares and submits comprehensive investigative documents and associated reports to support investigative findings.
Provides data and spreadsheet analysis regarding statistics to identify and analyze trends within the institution.
Conducts review of telephone calls and is able to transcribe materials with accuracy.
Identifies suspicious or potential criminal activity and/or violations of institutional policy.
Collaborates with other law enforcement partners such as the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division.
May recommendation appropriate action if necessary.
Review facility cameras to ensure all cameras are operable at all times.
Preserves video evidence relevant to case investigations.
Maintains an awareness of all institutional policies and procedures.
Attends interagency meetings and conferences to share necessary information.
Cultivates Confidential Human Sources by interviewing suspects in criminal cases, associates of suspected criminal activity, Security Threat Group members, and associates of Security Threat Group members consistent with facility policy
Will not compromise his/her position nor disclose any confidential information to any unauthorized personnel
Maintains integrity and confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Warden.
High School Diploma or GED; College degree highly desirable
1 year experience in investigation or intelligence. (combination of experience and education may be considered)
Knowledge of basic investigative procedures and practices.
Knowledge of applicable agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Skilled in written and verbal language.
Must possess good problem-solving abilities and strong analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Flexibility in work schedule and days off when necessary.
Ability to write reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of employees.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Standard jail facility and office environment.Incumbent performs duties in a jail facility which may involves sitting and walking at will, walking/standing and/or sitting for long periods, lifting/ carrying heavy objects, crouching/kneeling, bending at the waist, close and far vision, reaching, handling/ grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the hazards associated with jail operations, such as potentially violent individuals and communicable disease
