All free backpack registrations and school immunizations appointments are full
YEADON PA, - The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD) has announced that all registration slots for free backpacks with school supplies and school immunization appointments have been filled for its second annual “Back-to-School Fair.” DCHD thanks its partners and the community for supporting school supply donations through the DCHD Delivers Donation Drive.
Residents who missed registration are still welcome to attend and enjoy free community resources and services this Saturday at the Wellness Center at Yeadon. This year’s fair offers students free services and activities to help them start the school year ready to succeed. Students will have access to on-site dental exams, vision screenings, hair cut vouchers, and more! The event will also feature face painting, ice cream treats, and other fun activities for the whole family.
“With each school year comes a new opportunity for our students to excel and pursue their dreams in the classroom,” said Delaware County Health Director Lora Siegmann Werner. “Through the amazing support of our community and sponsors, DCHD’s 2nd annual Back-to-School Fair gives each student the supplies, immunizations, and resources to make it the best year yet!”
Additionally, DCHD is unveiling a one-of-a-kind poster, created in collaboration with Marvel, to support and promote DCHD’s Lead Free 1-2-3 campaign. These action-packed comic book posters are included in every backpack and designed to raise lead poisoning awareness and engage the community around the campaign’s mission. This iconic art features Iron Man battling DCHD’s lead campaign monsters throughout Delaware County. Single prints of the poster and coloring companion sheets will be available inside the Wellness Center at Yeadon for all students. No registration for a poster print is required. One poster print per student.
