Delaware County Health Department DCHD Delivers Thanksgiving Donation Drive in Partnership with ACME Markets and Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry

The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD), in partnership with ACME Markets, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry via Philabundance, and Delaware County Council held a press conference today to present the “DCHD Delivers Thanksgiving” donation drive. DCHD Delivers Thanksgiving is a Delaware County staff-oriented food collection drive supporting families in Delaware County this holiday season.

The DCHD Delivers Thanksgiving is a follow up to “DCHD Delivers,” the department’s annual anniversary collection program that began last April. This November, DCHD and other County employees are donating and collecting food and service items and will deliver them personally to the community through the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. In addition, and in support of this effort, ACME Markets will be donating 50 16–20 lb. turkeys and accompanying side dishes.

A press conference was held today, Monday, November 20th at 11:00 am. Reverend Christopher Heisey Terrell accepted donations on behalf of Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at the Prospect Hill Baptist Church, 703 Lincoln Avenue, Prospect Park, PA 19076. This partnership hopefully provided residents with a joyful Thanksgiving dinner.

“Spending time with friends, family, and neighbors is what Thanksgiving is all about and we are so excited to share some healthy food and cheer with Delaware County residents,” said Delaware County Health Department Director Melissa Lyon. “We couldn’t be more excited and thankful to be a part of the Delaware County community and for the partnerships that have made this Thanksgiving extra special.”

“We are proud to work with organizations like Delaware County Health Department, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, and Philabundance as we work together to nourish our neighbors this Thanksgiving.” – ACME Markets
