Current Status of Crozer Health Facilities
Prospect Medical Holdings is still in the process of negotiations related to disposition of the properties that formerly were used by the Crozer Health System.
On 8/4/25, Prospect Medical Holdings received approval from the bankruptcy court to “abandon” two of the four properties (the former Taylor Hospital and Delaware County Memorial Hospital properties). However, purchasing agreements are still being discussed for these two properties as well as the former Crozer Chester Medical Center and Springfield Hospital properties.
ChristianaCare was successful in Prospect Medical Holdings auction process in purchasing specific outpatient facilities that were part of the Crozer system (see below for details).
Prospect Medical Holding’s restructuring website (including the dockets, documents, and a calendar) is: https://cases.omniagentsolutions.com/?clientId=3725.
Delaware County has identified suitable landing areas and established designated strategic Community Landing Zones for medical helicopter operations in the county. These zones will assist emergency transport capabilities for critical trauma and medical emergencies.

Obtaining Crozer Medical Records
Former Crozer patients have access to their medical records via Crozer’s Health+Link Patient Portal, if they set this portal up previously. It is not known how long this patient portal will remain accessible. Former Crozer patients may still be able to set up their Crozer Health+Link Patient Portal if they are able to locate their Crozer patient medical record number. Patients should retrieve their medical documents as soon as possible.
As of July 2025, Prospect Medical has transitioned to a single company to manage requests for all Crozer medical records, and began charging former patients for this service:
Discussions are under way regarding a potential agreement with The Foundation for Delaware County to help contribute funding to the costs related to medical record access. As of 8/8/25, this agreement has not yet been finalized.

State Oversight and County Response
- Prospect Medical Holdings originally purchased the Crozer Health system in 2016. The purchasing agreement included a 10-year clause restricting hospital closures. Despite this stipulation, Prospect Medical Holdings closed Springfield Hospital and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in 2022, and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed Crozer Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital in 2025. Prospect’s actions reflect years of mismanagement, financial exploitation, and disregard for public health and community well-being.
- Hospitals in Pennsylvania are regulated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Delaware County Council, the County Executive, and departments across Delaware County are engaged in partnerships focused on contingency planning and addressing the impacts on healthcare services and continuity of care for Delaware County residents, and are collaborating with:
- Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon
- State Representatives and Senators
- The Governor’s Office and Attorney General’s Office
- The Pennsylvania Department of Health
- Regional health system partners
- On 4/21/25, Delaware County issued an emergency declaration to help safeguard public health, ensure care continuity, and mobilize resources in support of residents and healthcare workers. The emergency declaration enables the County to expedite staffing, procurement, and emergency medical coordination, and was initially in effect for seven days and was subsequently extended by Delaware County Council. The declaration also allows officials to track and potentially recoup costs related to the closures.
- Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Legislative Delegation, and community partners activated a contingency plan to fund four Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles to mitigate EMS service gaps due to the loss of Crozer EMS services. This plan operated from 5/3/25 through 8/3/25. For years, Crozer EMS provided critical emergency medical services to numerous municipalities across Delaware County, and most of these municipalities relied on this coverage to support local ALS services that were not available in local budgets. This contingency arrangement provided Delaware County municipalities the crucial time needed to strengthen EMS service capabilities.
- While Delaware County is deeply disappointed in Prospect’s actions throughout this process, the County continues to pursue collaborations to support the sustainability of healthcare services in Delaware County in partnership with state officials, regional health systems, and community stakeholders.
