The Delaware County Substance Abuse and Recovery Task Force aims to educate the public through social media, public forums, school education programs and the media. There are several educational programs available to schools and community groups.

Task Force Outreach Program

A major objective of the Substance Abuse and Recovery Task Force is to prevent prescription drug abuse by speaking directly and candidly with parents and students about the addictive nature these powerful and unfortunately, readily available drugs.

The Office of the District Attorney’ offers the program, “Realities of Prescription Drugs & Heroin Abuse.” The presentation educates students about the addictive nature of narcotics and the deadly consequences of these drugs. To schedule a presentation, contact the DA’s Office at 610-891-4163.

Holcomb Prevention Programs

Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems is the primary prevention provider in Delaware County offering a variety of programs, campaigns and interventions, free of charge to Delaware County residents.

Visit their website or call 484-444-0412.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

SAP counselors are available in middle and high schools, to assist a student or faculty member who needs assistance with drug, alcohol or other mental health issues. People can contact the guidance or pupil services office at their school.

Families are encouraged to share this information with their children.

WARNING!!! Almost ALL heroin users stared out abusing prescription drugs.

If you are currently taking opiate painkillers, or are thinking about taking them for anything other than their prescribed use, you need to be aware of this very real and dangerous possibility that has life-altering, and many times life-threatening, consequences.
