Summary
The Receptionist answers phone calls and receives visitors to the Office of the Medical Examiner. The Receptionists often the first point of contact with the office for individuals that lost loved one. The Office of the Medical Examiner is seeking a personable, patient and compassionate person to fulfill this critically customer service position.
Essential Duties
- Welcome all visitors, including funeral home personnel and family members.
- Gather necessary information from visitors to facilitate meetings with the appropriate Medical Examiner staff.
- Answer phone calls and messages, ascertain the nature of calls, determine where to direct them, and provide information within authorized limits.
- Maintain and file data relative to calls and visits.
- Assist in the creation of cremation permits, releasing of bodies to verified funeral homes, and uploading toxicology and autopsy reports.
- Upload death certificates to the state database.
- Prepare case files for doctors.
- Assist with other office administrative duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Prior experience in a high-volume customer service position.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Physical Demands
