The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD) is pleased to announce its fall influenza (flu) vaccination schedule designed to protect our community from seasonal respiratory illnesses. DCHD will hold three special event clinics (including one drive through event) throughout the month of October as well as continue its standing immunization clinic hours at its Wellness Centers in Chester and Yeadon. Through these offerings, DCHD is working to make vaccinations as easy as possible for residents to receive ahead of the winter months.
“As we head into flu season, now is the time to get vaccinated. The flu can be serious, but the vaccine is safe, effective, and widely available at no cost through our clinics. We encourage all residents to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Lora Siegmann Werner, MPH, Director, Delaware County Health Department.
Seasonal flu vaccines are recommended for everyone six months and older as an effective way to reduce the risk of flu-related illness, hospitalization, and death. Vaccination is especially important for older adults, young children, and individuals with chronic health conditions.
DCHD will hold three free upcoming special event flu clinics to provide convenient access to flu vaccinations. These events are open to everyone in Delaware County ages 3 and up, no appointments or insurance are needed. Residents are asked to wear short sleeves to ensure that flu shots can be administered easily. In the event of inclement weather, please be aware that drive-thru flu clinic may be canceled.

DCHD continues to provide a variety of vaccinations at our standing clinics to underinsured and uninsured residents. We encourage residents to call our Wellness Line at 484-276-2100 to check for eligibility and schedule their appointments. In addition, uniquely for the fall flu vaccination season, DCHD will also accommodate walk in requests from any Delaware County resident ages 3 and up *for the flu vaccine only.*
