Delaware County Recognizes August as Child Support Awareness Month

Media, PA — The Delaware County Domestic Relations Section is proud to recognize August as Child Support Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the vital role child support plays in promoting the well-being, stability, and future of children and families throughout the Delco community. Domestic Relations is responsible for establishing, modifying, and enforcing child and spousal support orders, helping to ensure that children receive the financial support they need to prosper.

"We are proud to recognize Child Support Awareness Month and celebrate the great work that our Domestic Relations team does not just this month, but every day," said Delaware County Council Chair Richard Womack.

To commemorate Child Support Awareness Month, Delaware County Domestic Relations has teamed up with Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) to give back to the community and the children they serve. Throughout the Summer months, employees have been collecting and donating essential items to CASA. Donations include toiletries, school supplies, and other everyday necessities to help support Delaware County children and young adults.

Any Delaware County employees or community members who would like to participate can drop off donations at the Delaware County Domestic Relations office in the Curran Building at the corner of 2nd and Orange Street in Media with Janice Wallace through Friday, August 14.  Every contribution regardless of size will help.

In addition, Delaware County Domestic Relations is excited to host a Lunch and Learn featuring Sheriff Siddiq Kamara as a guest speaker. Sheriff Kamara’s commitment to strengthening community engagement, enhancing public safety, fostering trust, and building meaningful partnerships throughout Delco reflects the values that inspire the mission of Domestic Relations.

"Serving Delaware County's most vulnerable residents can often be a thankless job but I look forward to seeing our Domestic Relations team and partners at CASA continue to help our children thrive," said Delaware County Council Vice Chair Christine Reuther.

The mission of the Delaware County Domestic Relations Section extends beyond establishing and enforcing child and spousal support orders. They are committed to promoting the well-being of children, strengthening families, and helping ensure that every child can grow, succeed, and reach their full potential. Whether through daily work or by giving back to the community through partnerships like those with CASA, the County remains dedicated to making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of the children and families throughout Delaware County.
