COSA's Protective Services Program investigates confidential reports of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, or abandonment of county residents aged 60 or older. Services are initiated to protect victims, stop abuse, and prevent future incidents.

  • Local Area Agency on Aging (AAA): Each county has an AAA that provides various services for seniors, including protective services. You can find your local AAA by searching online or contacting the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. 
  • Law Enforcement: If the abuse is an emergency or involves criminal activity, contact your local police department or the Pennsylvania State Police. 
  • Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA): The PDA oversees programs and services for older adults in Pennsylvania. They can provide information and connect you with resources. 
  • SeniorLAW Center: This organization provides free legal assistance to older adults, including help with protection from abuse orders. 
     

What To Do If You Suspect Abuse

  1. Report it: Even if you are not completely certain about the abuse, it is important to report your concerns to the appropriate authorities. 
  2. Provide Information: When reporting, provide as much detail as possible about the situation, including the specific type of abuse, the location, and the individuals involved.
