Superintendent Scott D. Mahoney

Superintendent Scott Mahoney died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
Superintendent Mahoney had served with the Delaware County Park Police for 29 years. He had previously served part-time with the Millbourne Borough Police Department, Colwyn Borough Police Department, Clifton Heights Borough Police Department, and Aldan Borough Police Department. He is survived by his wife, four children, and sister.
Patrolman Joseph Montgomery

Patrolman Montgomery started his career with the Delaware County Park Police in August of 2022 following 30+ years of service as a decorated Paramedic with the Riddle Memorial Hospital / Mainline Health System and as the Fire Chief of Edgmont Fire Company. Patrolman Montgomery’s suffered a medical emergency leading to his passing one year and one month after joining the Department.
Patrolman Edward A. Wehe, III

Patrolman Edward Wehe suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after clearing the scene of a protest at the Delaware County Prison.
He had been dispatched to the prison to assist in removing the protesters, who had not obtained the proper permits to assemble. He was able to clear the scene after approximately four hours. He went to a local restaurant where he ran into his daughter and, while speaking with her, suddenly collapsed. His daughter immediately initiated CPR until medics arrived. He was transported to Riddle Memorial Hospital where he passed away.
Patrolman Wehe was a U.S. Navy veteran who had served with the Delaware County Courthouse and Park Police Department for 18 years and also served as a part-time officer with the Marcus Hook Police Department. He is survived by his daughter, granddaughter, fiancee, and brother.
Corporal Ernest L. Lang, Jr

END OF WATCH: Sunday, December 10, 1978
Corporal Ernest Lang was shot and killed when he intervened in an armed robbery at a bar at 2213 West 3rd Street in Chester City, Pennsylvania.
Two suspects entered the bar and threatened the customers and employees at gunpoint with sawed-off shotguns. Corporal Lang intervened in the robbery and in the ensuing shootout was fatally wounded. He managed to fire all six rounds from his revolver as the suspect shot him.
A few hours later his killer went to a local hospital. Five of his six shots had hit the suspect and he was admitted in serious condition. He was later convicted of second-degree murder. The other suspect was convicted of armed robbery.
Corporal Lang had served with the Delaware County Courthouse and Park Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife and six children.
