Envirothon | Annual Poster Contest | Upcoming Events
The Envirothon is an environmental competition in which teams of five students, grades 9 through 12, compete against other Delaware County High Schools teams in five subject areas: Soils, Aquatics, Wildlife, Forestry, and a current issue topic which is updated each year. Every high school is permitted to send two teams of five to the event.
Study materials and various publications are available to educators to help their students prepare for the event. High Schools who currently participate develop teams in various ways such as: Environmental clubs, incorporation of material into classroom activities and rewarding students who perform well by placing them on the team, or a host of other methods.
Tests are developed by professionals in each area of expertise: PA Fish & Boat Commission, PA Game Commission, DCNR – Forestry, and the U.S.D.A. Natural Resource Conservation Service. Envirothon events are also conducted on the State and National levels. The Envirothon is locally sponsored by the following organizations:
DCNR State Parks, Delaware County Environmental Network
The first-place team is eligible to compete in the statewide competition. The statewide competition involves over 60 teams from across Pennsylvania. Only one entry from each County is permitted. The local winner will receive funds to assist with expenses in attending the State competition.
Any school who is interested is encouraged to contact Delaware County Conservation District. We will supply you with the necessary information and more study materials.

2026 Poster Contest Brochure
General Information
The Delaware County Conservation District’s 2026 Poster Contest is now open to all public, private, and home-schooled students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside or at-tend a school within Delaware County!
Posters will be judged in the following grade categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12.
There are four categories this year:
1.) Hand Drawn Poster– Creation of poster using traditional hand-drawn methods to illustrate the NACD contest theme.
2.) Braille Poster– Competition for blind and low-vision students to use braille to create posters championing natural resource conservation.
3.) Additional Assist Poster: This is open to all students who may benefit from extra assistance to complete their posters. Participants are encouraged to create posters that celebrate inclusivity and the beauty of our environment.
4.) Digital Poster: Only for grades 7-12 Students can Use graphic arts programs to create poster featuring the NACD contest theme. No copyrighted content outside of the NACD logo can be used.
Contest Rules
- The theme “Soil: Where it All Begins” must appear on the front of the poster.
- Poster must be the original artwork of the student. The poster may not be traced from photographs or other artists’ published works.
- No artist’s name may appear on the front of the poster.
- Poster must be created by an individual student. A student may only submit one entry.
- Posters must be flat. No 3-D object may be attached to the poster.
- Posters should be 11×17”.
Submission Process
In order to enter the contest, please email a pdf of your poster to Jordan Lambe at LambeJ@co.delaware.pa.us, or deliver a hard copy to DCCD’s office.
With the submission, please provide the following information:
Category Student is Entering, Student’s Name, Address, Phone Number, Grade, School, and Teacher’s Name.
Due date for submission is Friday, June 5th. Judging will take place shortly after this date and notification letters and prize checks will be mailed out to the winners.
Posters will be judged according to the conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal.
Prizes
Prizes in the form of a check will be awarded to the first through fourth place winners and the prize amounts are the following:
First Place $75
Second Place $50
Third Place $25
Fourth Place $15
First place posters will be sent to the PA Association of Conservation Districts for the state poster competition.

2024 Conservation Poster Contest
The Delaware County Conservation District (DCCD) is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD) Poster Contest, an annual statewide competition that aims to inspire and engage K-12 students on important environmental issues. The theme of this year’s contest, “May the Forest Be with You Always,” encouraged students here in Delaware County and throughout the Commonwealth to create artwork highlighting the vital connection between healthy forests, tree canopies, and clean water. Trees and plants play a crucial role in filtering water in our streams, ponds, lakes, and groundwater by absorbing pollutants, stabilizing soil, and maintaining the natural water cycle. This natural filtration process ensures that our water sources remain clean and sustainable for future generations.
Overall, posters from six students from Pennsylvania, representing just four counties—Allegheny, Cambria, Delaware, and Greene—were selected to compete at the national level.
