Before You Submit: Tips That Can Help Your Bid

Over time, we’ve seen a handful of issues that can slow things down, create extra follow-up, or cause a bid or proposal not to be considered. This page is meant to help you avoid a few easy-to-miss issues that can make the process harder than it needs to be.

Your “Double-Check” List

1. Required documents are included
Before you submit, take a moment to confirm that all required forms and attachments are included. Complete submissions are easier to review and help avoid delays.

2. Insurance information matches what’s requested
If insurance is required, make sure your Certificate of Insurance:

  • Lists Delaware County as the certificate holder (if requested)
  • Matches the coverage types and amounts listed in the project documents

Having this information aligned from the start helps keep things on track. Read more here: Insurance and Bond Requirements

3. The submission is sent before the deadline
Deadlines matter, and submissions received after the posted deadline can’t be accepted.

Tip: Submitting a little early can give you peace of mind and time to address any last-minute questions.

4. The correct file and version are uploaded
Before submitting, check that you’re sending:

  • The correct file
  • The final version
  • In the format requested

This is especially important for pricing sheets and required forms.

5. Updates or clarifications have been reviewed
Sometimes additional information is shared after an opportunity is posted. These updates or clarifications are considered part of the requirements. Before you submit, it’s a good idea to review any posted updates to make sure nothing has changed.
